Moving Heavy-Lift Breakbulk from Italy to India for an Energy Sector PSU
Transporting 164-Ton Industrial Valves for a Major Government/PSU Client in the Energy Sector
OVERVIEW
Tiger Logistics secured a major contract for a Government Company/PSU in Energy Sector and was assigned to handle five major ODC projects from Italy in April 2025. This case study highlights our detailed engineering planning, international coordination, and specialized freight management for two critical heavy lift shipments from Venezia (Italy).
The execution involved custom lifting techniques, moving oversized and heavy cargo via road and sea in both Italy and India. Given the weight and dimensions, the operation required strategic stowage planning and expert handling to ensure safe delivery in India.

Challenges
Oversized Movement:
The shipment included a 90-ton valve measuring 14 meters in length, and an additional valve weighing 74 tons, which required ocean freight planning including managing vessel space, and necessary approvals from operators.
International Coordination:
Handling the high-value cargo required strategic scheduling with our network of agents and partners, managing cargo readiness, compliance, customs approvals, and coordination with port authorities.
Engineering Precision:
Ensure cargo is handled as per guidelines and requirements of the cargo using advanced lifting techniques.
The Solution
Tiger Logistics ensured that the freight was managed from its origin to the destination seamlessly, without delays and disruptions through seamless coordination with port authorities, vessel agencies, and its agent network.
Once the shipments arrived at the ports, the valves were securely loaded on a vessel from Port Venezia and received at Mumbai Port, where priority handling arrangements were pre-coordinated.
The dimensions of the cargo required custom spreader arrangements and precise stowage techniques. Detailed engineering lift calculations were implemented to achieve secure and balanced stowage. Continuous communication and real-time updates between international stakeholders enabled smooth execution throughout the cargo’s journey.
Conclusion
This project underscores Tiger Logistics’ ability to combine freight management with precision engineering, seamless customs clearance and international coordination, in handling Import of Heavy-lift cargo. By delivering oversized valves safely and on time, we met the expectations of the client with our commitment to operational excellence.
Our continued investments in technical knowledge, global partnerships, and on-ground execution teams ensure that Tiger Logistics remains at the forefront of project logistics for heavy-lift and break-bulk cargo across critical industries.
